The Council has also been working with a long time partner in con- servation, the Wildlife Trust of India and have collaboratively been able to secure crucial habitats and corridors measuring over 3500 hectares and have been able to impact lives of communities in a pos- itive way by sharing the benefits of conservation through ways that influence their daily lives. Meghalaya have always linked conserva- tion with food security and realized early on that, to secure forests we would first have to secure livelihoods of people living around those forests.
