Trees are important for our environment and human well being. Trees provides clean water to drink, air to breathe, shade and food to humans, animals and plants, home to several fauna and flora, building materials and places for spiritual, cultural and recreation. We derive so much benefit from trees and in return deserve unconditional care and protection. PLANT TREES for NURTURE
HOW TO PLANT SAPLINGS
- Selection of plantation site: Identify the location in your vicinity where you want to plant the sapling of your choice. Visit the nursery and identify the plant you need. The Nursery guide will assist you in selection of plants.
- Preparation for plantation: For plantation, you will need to dig a pit. The pit size depends upon the size of plants. For tall plants (6 feet and above) the pit size should be 0.6 m x 0.6 m x 0.6 m dug with the help of spade. For smaller plants (upto 3 feet) the pit size should be 0.45 m x 0.45 m x 0.45 m. The pits should be filled with good soil mixed with farm yard manure in the ratio of 2:1. Insecticides may be added to protect plants from termites.
- Plantation of saplings: Plants should be planted with earthen balls attached with roots after removing the polythene bags / container and other covering. The earthen ball should be soaked with water mixed with insecticide before planting in the pit. The soil mixture should be filled and compressed and water should be poured in the pit and sprayed on the plant.
- Taking care of plants: water the plants regularly. Other most important action is to nurture the plants. The plants should be protected from any damage and regular watering should be done.
